I was only able to find my items using Universal Minecraft Editor to locate ALL pixies in the world and comb through all of their data to find which ones had my tools in their Hand Items slot 0.

I thought I was dealing with some weird glitch or mod conflict causing items to disappear, until I searched around and found out that by DEFAULT, pixies can steal ANYTHING from you on the 1.12 version of Ice and Fire, seemingly preferring whatever's in slot 1 (or maybe just whatever's the most difficult item to replace). There's nothing that alerts you when it happens. Twice I've had pixies steal my Tinkers Construct pickaxes from slot 1 of my hotbar, unbeknownst to me. Why this is the default setting can only be the work of a sadist.
